R400,00

All our honey is harvested on our fynbos farm, Rietfontein, outside of Darling – South Africa. Surrounded by nature, our bees forage on pristine fynbos far away from chemicals and pesticides. Our raw honey is available for purchase online or at our shop, Trading Hive, at the Salt Circle Arcade.
We use an uncapping fork to remove the thin layer of wax from each of the honey frames and then place them into one of our stainless steel extractors to spin out the honey.

Fynbos Honey

Harvesting Fynbos Honey:
To harvest our Fynbos Honey, we use an uncapping fork to carefully remove the wax caps from our honeycomb frames.
Extraction Process:
We place the frames in a stainless-steel extractor, where the honey is extracted using gravitational force.
Sustainable Practices:
Solar energy powers our extractor, showcasing our dedication to environmental stewardship.
Bottling and Purity:

We only strain the honey and bottled without any heating, filtering, or blending, preserving its natural state.

Organic by Nature:
Given our strategic location, which is nestled comfortably over 5 kilometres away from any national roads or active farming areas, our honey naturally benefits from an environment that fosters organic growth. This isolation not only shields our hives from pollutants but also ensures that our honey remains inherently organic and free from the influence of external agricultural practices. We have not sought formal organic certification to keep prices accessible, as this would not alter the honey’s quality.
Seasonal Variability:

Varies seasonally. In areas with Fynbos or other floral diversity, the type and quality of honey can change with the blooming seasons, affecting flavor, color, and nutritional content.

Crystallization:

Can crystallize over time, but this is not a sign of spoilage. Crystallization is a natural process where glucose separates from water and forms crystals. To liquefy crystallized honey, you can gently heat it in a warm water bath at around 40-50°C (104-122°F), ensuring not to exceed this temperature to preserve its beneficial properties.

  1. Sarah J. –

The Fynbos Honey is the best I’ve ever tasted! It’s a staple in my home now.

  2. Zahra –

Exceptional quality in every drop! Darling Honey’s 2.5kg Raw Fynbos Honey is my new favourite— the taste is complex, with herbal undertones from the fynbos biome that you just don’t get in mass-produced honey. It’s raw, so it retains all the enzymes and benefits. I use it for everything from sweetening coffee to homemade remedies.
